Their trip

Today Derek and Charmaine are flying to Washington DC. This is the first time that Derek is flying so far. Best of all, they will be meeting up with Rainer and his wife and baby. It will be an exciting time for them.
Also they will be enjoying fireworks in Washington. Sitting in front of the beautiful monument and Abraham Lincoln's statue watching the fireworks. It will be such a wonderful experience. Wish i could be there myself to watch the splendid fireworks with such beautiful scenery.
They will fly to NY later and spend another few days there. I wonder if Rainer's daughter, Emily will take a liking to them. It will be fun to meet her. She should be 9 months old now.
Well, hope to see a lot of pictures of their trip. It will be a fun one.

Pre 33rd year anniversary celebration

Times flies.... We cannot believe we have survived our 32nd marriage and will be heading for our 33rd anniversary this coming Sabbath.
In celebration of our anniversary, we took this very special trip to San Marino Huntington Library.
In the library, we see many different kinds of garden. One of which is the Chinese Garden a replica of the Soo Chow Garden in China.
We had a wonderful time visiting this place and we highly recommend you to visit it too.
Free admission on the first Thursday of every month.
So visit it someday. It is so beautiful !

The biggest bullet ???

Is this the biggest bullet head you have ever seen? Ha hahaaa, no, this is the cover for the propeller for the Queen Mary.
I cannot imagine what the propeller looked like or how big until we saw it in the water. And it is indeed very huge. Beside it is the nut for QM too. I guess everything is humongous over there.

A trip to the Queen Mary

I have always heard about the Queen Mary and have never personally visited it. Yesterday, we were privileged to see it with my own two eyes.
It was a humongous ship to me. And we had fun walking around and reading the different informations on the boards. I am amazed at how it can carry thousands and thousands of people. The security supervisor told us that no other ship can go as fast as this one. In my mind I wonder how such a big ship could move so quickly in the waters and yet not sink. It is truly amazing to me.
We had a lot of walking to do and we even saw a movie crew doing a movie onboard. We don't know what the movie was called, but in the dinning room, we saw the title " Happy sweet 16 , Taylor " And i tried to see if i recognized any of the actors or actresses, but none.
We were very tired and hungry at the end of the tour. By the way, we got in for free. There is a special going on now. We all get to go in for free till the 31st of this month.
If you are interested, do go now before the special offer expires.

Trip canceled !

Out of the kindness of our friends' the trip has been canceled.
They think we need more time to rest.
So we will go on another day which is alright with us.
Although I kind of look forward to this trip, I don't mind waiting till we are strong and not contagious to go.
So you will see us this weekend....hopefully healthy and strong and not contagious.

Trip confirmed

Correction: It is not walking distant... Julian is 4 miles from where RV park is. So we will drop by and pick apples first before we go to the RV park.
We have been told that this coming Sunday the 26th of Oct, we will be going to Julian .... where apples are in abundance.
Sounds like it is going to be chilly over there in the night...40 some degree. And it is walking distance to where the apples are.
I am looking forward to this trip becuz if you have already known me you will know that I love to venture to places where no one has ever gone before... ha haha,...
More like places where I have never gone before.
So I will be taking a lot of pictures, and my poor camera will be overworked again.

A look into a future trip

There is a potential trip coming up in 2 weeks.
Right now our plans are still pending as this huge mobile home is in the repair shop or garage.
Tentatively, we will be going to Julian end of October. Where is this place? I have no clue. But I know that it is where apples are in abundance. It is about 123 miles from here and seems to be up a mountain.
Wherever that is, I am looking forward to go becuz we will be able to pick apples and drink fresh apple juices. And this time we are much more prepared as far as foods are concern.
Moreover that place has hookups, so we don't have to be thrifty with water or electricity.
That means we can have showers....
Though it maybe a 2 day fun trip, it is good enough for us.
Well, we will update on this if we do go.

Slippers for Cinderella

The trip to Chinatown this afternoon was a fun trip. Mrs Pitts and I enjoyed looking at all the stuffs they have at the stores. We inquired about the prices of clothes to shoes to pots and pans. In the end, we bought these pairs of slippers fitted for Cinderella.... so shiny and pretty. They were a good deal too. 3 pairs for $5. And the slipper part is made of thick material not those thin, skinny ones that you get from 99cts stores. It was a good deal and I bought some huge pomegranates too for a good price.
It was fun and it was also tiring to our eyes. But a good day overall.

Another Bridal Show

Oct 5th, 2008...another Bridal Show in Knotts Hotel by Knotts Berry Farm.
I like this setting a little better cuz it looks classier. Don't think the number of exhibitors are lesser than the one in Costa Mesa, but it does looked so. We were on the 3rd floor and there was another on the 9th. Too bad this time we didn't get to see the Fashion Show or listen to the silly MC screaming his head off.
The overall result was more solid and we had an extra pair of strong helping hands which we very much needed. Charmaine came as an exhibitor, but at the same time, she got herself a "Bride to be" sticker... sneaky her ! Anyways, we think she had a good time walking around collecting souvenirs, and eating those cupcakes and cookies......! So so sweet...blehhhh...

Seaweeds

Have you ever wonder why when you see those bulb like sea weeds you have the urge to pop them? Oh, I love to pop those seaweeds. It gives you a satisfaction when they popped. So weird !
I also wonder how seaweeds are processed and become consumable products. Should say too that they tasted pretty good. If anyone knows how the process is done and where we can observe the progress, please inform me. I would love to watch it in production.

Trip to San Juan Capistrano

On our way home, we decided to drive down to San Juan Capistrano. We have read about this place of interest but have never really been there. So this is an exciting trip to make there..for me. To enter the Mission to recapture history, we need to pay a hefty $9 each to get in. Being the thriftiest of thriftiness, we all decided that there is nothing interesting to see inside. So we decided to walk around the little town.
The trading post is a very interesting place to go to. There are lots of Indian arts and crafts and everything related to the Indian tribes, unknowingly I started humming along a familiar chinese music playing overhead. Queer little shop. But it is interesting to see all the stuffs they have inside for sale. Make sure you bring a lot of money if you like Indian arts and crafts...cuz they are quite pricey even after a good 50 percent discount. Enjoy !

Catching the waves

See how the wave is building up here. You can almost tell if it was going to be a hugh one.
Here it comes crashing in. And no matter what happens, you will automatically release a loud shrill when you see the waves approaching.

All ends in white suds like these. So bubbly and so white. It is fun catching waves....on shore.
Won't try to catch it out there....too dangerous for me.

Doheny Beach

Here we are at Doheny Beach, Ca. Here is where our friends took us to relax and enjoy each other's company.
This is a very beautiful beach. People do not go crazy over here. Everyone obeys the rules on this beach. By certain time, all must be quiet and all generators must be turned off. There is no crazy music or parties. It is a place where people truly come to relax. Most of the time we spent in sleeping and eating. On the 2nd day, we took some walks on the beach and neighboring parks. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go too far becuz dogs are not allowed there in the parks that we wanted to go. The walks on the beach was beautiful. Mrs Pitts and I tried to catch the highest tides that came in. A couple of times we were drenched knee down becuz the waves were huge. And then during one of the high waves, we spotted a seal. He looks like he is wearing a rubber diving suit. We could see its skin shimmering in the sunlight. It was an amazing thing to watch it come so near to shore. A little girl about 12 or 13 was kicking sand by the shore when she suddenly saw the seal approaching her. She let out a shrilly scream and ran upwards to where her parents were sunbathing. Later she realized that it was a seal and came calmly back down to watch it swim away. It was hilarious and we had a good laugh. It was fun catching the waves and getting our feet wet.

The trip..count down !

Camping in an RV is something we have not done before. Tomorrow we will be camping at some beach area in an RV. Today, we get to put our stuffs in the RV getting ready to go tomorrow.
It is kind of exciting. But we are kind of apprehensive about the activities that we will be doing there. As we will be hitched by the ocean, that means we won't be moving or driving anywhere.(we are not pulling any cars behind) We are just wondering if we will be just staying in the RV or we get to go places. But there is no need to wonder. We shall find out tomorrow. We already have tomorrow's lunch ready. We have lots of fruits and vegetables. Chinese chess, a book game: spot the differences, books to read, etc. If not then we will just go for a hike...plenty of things to do. Still not so clear as to where we will be, but it won't be in San Diego. (Just found out, we are going to Dana Point.)
Got a hat to shield from the sun. Oh, better remember my sunblock too. Eva bought me a new pair of sunglasses. So I am very prepared now. Oh yes, my faithful camera has been given juices. So it'll do its job then.
Want to know how the camping went, read about it when we come home.
Meanwhile, you guys have a good one.

Hats

If you are a hat person, you may want to go to Burlington Coat Factory to check out the hats over there. They have hats for all seasons. And I found this hat at the children's department. I am not a hat person but only need it to shield my face from the sun this weekend.
Can you guess the price of this hat? Hah, you will not be able to guess it. But if you know where i come from, you may just have guessed it. Yes, it is only 99 cts !
It was on sale. And i never buy anything higher than 99cts if i can help it: ie, depending on the reason for the purchase.
But this hat will fit me just right for the coming event.

Two love birds

What a beautiful lake for a pair of beautiful love birds !
A beautiful lake in Irvine. This is another place of interest that I have never heard of until last week. But this is an exclusive interesting place where only the residents or people with a "special card" or ID can go in.
There is a wade pool /swimming pool for children and on the other side is this big lake where you get to canoe, go on paddle boats or the funny bicycle boats.
A nice place to relax and enjoy.
Also there is a "pool house or club house" where you can celebrate Birthdays, Baby showers and all that. What a cool place to be in .

Guess where this is ?

I am always impressed by buildings that are historical and huge. This is such a beautiful huge building. Can anyone guess where this is without looking at the bottom picture?
Do you think this is New York, England or San Francisco? I just love the majestic look of this building.
Well, this is the famous cable car in San Francisco. And that building is in downtown SF.
Love the cable cars.. Fun to ride in one.
